Happy 99th birthday to Georgia-born former president, Jimmy Carter!

Carter was born to humble beginnings in Plains, where he was devoted to peanut farming and politics. After serving as Georgia’s 76th governor, he became the 39th president of the United States.

In 1982, he established the Carter Center to promote and expand human rights and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his humanitarian work.
